Why does nerve pain keep traveling from my neck or back into an arm or leg?

Nerve pain can travel when an irritated spinal nerve sends signals along its path into an arm or leg. A medical exam helps connect the symptom pattern with the suspected nerve root. Premier Injury Specialists reviews the injury history and findings before discussing targeted treatment. Seek urgent medical care for new severe weakness, loss of bladder or bowel control, or numbness in the groin.

Selective Nerve Root Block for Lake City accident injuries

A selective nerve root block addresses pain that follows a nerve path from the spine into an arm or leg. It may fit patients with radiculopathy, sciatica, a herniated disc, or crash-related neck and back pain.

The key decision is whether the symptoms, physical exam, and medical records point toward a specific irritated nerve. This treatment isn't a general solution for every back or neck complaint. Premier Injury Specialists uses the evaluation to decide whether targeted injection care belongs in the plan.

Patients across Metro Atlanta, including Lake City, may receive coordinated evaluation, treatment, and documentation through the practice. The same record can support medical follow-up and an auto accident claim.

  • Pain that follows a clear path into an arm or leg.
  • A focused exam for strength, sensation, reflexes, and movement.
  • Review of available medical records and imaging when relevant.
  • A discussion of whether a targeted injection fits the documented injury.

Service Overview

A selective nerve root block is an injection that places medication near an irritated spinal nerve to help assess and manage related pain.

  • Unlike a facet joint injection, this treatment focuses on a nerve root and its pain pattern rather than a spinal joint.
  • Premier Injury Specialists provides this care for auto accident patients in Lake City through clinics in Stockbridge and Buckhead.

What this injection may change for patients

Targeted medication reaches the area linked to a specific nerve pain pattern.

The response may help the physician assess whether that nerve contributes to the symptoms.

Focused treatment may support a broader plan for radiculopathy or sciatica.

Thorough records give patients a clearer account of the injury and care received.

Process

How targeted nerve root treatment is performed

1

Review the injury and symptoms

We review the collision history, pain path, exam findings, medical records, and relevant imaging before setting the treatment plan.

2

Plan the target with fluoroscopy

Fluoroscopy guides the physician as the target area and planned needle path are checked during the procedure.

3

Discuss the medication plan

The physician explains the role of local anesthetic and steroid medication, along with relevant risks and questions.

4

Record findings and follow-up

We document the treatment, patient response, and next care decision in the injury record.

How we approach targeted nerve root treatment

Match the injection to the pain pattern

The first decision is fit. We compare the symptom path with the exam and available records before discussing an injection. This service may be the wrong choice when pain does not point to a specific nerve or when another condition needs attention first.

Keep treatment physician-LED

Board-certified pain management physicians lead the medical plan, and a certified physician assistant supports patient care. Our team explains the purpose of each step in plain language.

Document the injury clearly

Accident-related care needs more than a procedure note. We record the history, examination findings, treatment discussion, and follow-up plan in one coordinated practice.

The scope this service is meant to handle

A patient in Lake City may have back pain that travels down one leg after a collision. The assessment checks the pain path, strength, sensation, reflexes, and available records before targeted treatment is considered.

Targeted injection choices for accident-related pain

These procedures address different pain sources, so the exam helps determine which option fits.

Questions about targeted nerve root injections

How is a selective nerve root block performed?

Needle placement uses fluoroscopy guidance to reach the planned area near an irritated spinal nerve. The physician reviews your symptoms and exam first, then explains the medication plan. Local anesthetic and steroid medication may be used. Premier Injury Specialists also records the findings and follow-up plan so the procedure fits the broader accident injury record.

What should I bring to the first appointment for Selective Nerve Root Block?

Accident details, medical records, imaging reports, medication information, and allergy details help the physician assess your condition. Bring copies when available, but don't delay care because one record is missing. Our team can review the information you have and explain which additional records would help guide treatment planning.

Which findings show that targeted nerve treatment may fit?

A consistent pain path, matching exam findings, and suspected nerve irritation support consideration of targeted treatment. Radiculopathy and sciatica may produce symptoms that travel into an arm or leg. The physician also checks for findings that point to another condition. Treatment isn't chosen from symptoms alone.

When should nerve pain become urgent?

New severe weakness, loss of bladder or bowel control, or numbness in the groin needs urgent medical evaluation. Worsening pain without those warning signs still deserves a prompt assessment after a collision. Tell the physician when symptoms began, where they travel, and whether strength or sensation has changed.

Why does the injection use fluoroscopy?

Fluoroscopy lets the physician view the treatment area and guide the planned needle path. The images support accurate positioning near the suspected nerve. Your medical history and exam still guide the decision to treat. Ask about the images, medication, risks, and aftercare before the procedure begins.

Does insurance or accident coverage pay for this care?

Coverage depends on the patient’s plan, accident claim, records, and eligibility. Premier Injury Specialists works with MedPay and attorney liens for eligible patients, which may help avoid out-of-pocket payment at the visit. Ask the patient coordinator to review the available arrangement before treatment is scheduled.
