About

What targeted nerve root treatment covers

A selective nerve root block focuses on pain that follows a specific nerve path. It may help with radiculopathy, sciatica, neck pain, or back pain after a motor vehicle collision. The goal is not to treat every source of spinal pain with one injection. Our physicians match the treatment to the symptom pattern and injury findings. A facet joint injection or medial branch block may address a different pain source. Risk review matters before any injection. We discuss possible soreness, bleeding, infection, nerve irritation, medication reaction, or a change in symptoms. New weakness or loss of bladder or bowel control needs urgent medical attention.

Process

How targeted nerve root treatment is planned

1

Review the accident and symptoms

We record how the collision occurred, where pain travels, and whether numbness or weakness is present.

2

Match symptoms to a nerve root

Our physician examines the pattern of pain and related findings to decide whether a selective block fits the suspected source.

3

Discuss the injection and risks

We explain the treatment purpose, possible complications, alternatives, and expected follow-up before proceeding.

4

Document findings and follow-up

We record the evaluation and treatment plan, then guide the next step based on symptoms and clinical findings.

What to prepare before a targeted nerve block

Bring information that helps us connect your symptoms with the motor vehicle collision.

  • Bring accident details and the date of the collision.
  • List the areas where pain, numbness, or tingling travels.
  • Bring medical records or imaging reports you already have.
  • Write down current medicines and medication allergies.
  • Share any new weakness or bladder or bowel changes before treatment.

Questions about targeted nerve root blocks

Who provides selective nerve root block care for Stonecrest auto accident patients?

Premier Injury Specialists provides targeted nerve root block care for auto accident patients in Stonecrest. Our practice focuses on collision-related injuries, including radiculopathy, sciatica, neck pain, and back pain. Board-certified pain management physicians guide the evaluation and treatment plan. Clinics in Stockbridge and Buckhead serve patients across Metro Atlanta.

What changes the cost of a targeted nerve root block?

The treatment plan, clinical evaluation, records, and related care needs affect the cost. We explain pricing before proceeding and offer upfront pricing for the planned service. Eligible patients may use MedPay or attorney liens, which can support care without an out-of-pocket payment at the visit. Ask about a free consultation for your situation.

How long does relief from a nerve root block last?

Relief duration varies by the cause of nerve irritation, the injury, and the individual response. A block may help reduce symptoms or clarify the pain source, but results vary. Our physician reviews your response during follow-up and adjusts the plan when needed. We won't promise a fixed duration because each injury behaves differently.

What risks should I discuss before this injection?

Possible risks include soreness, bleeding, infection, nerve irritation, medication reaction, and a change in symptoms. Our physician reviews these concerns before treatment and explains warning signs that need medical attention. New weakness, loss of bladder or bowel control, or numbness in the groin requires urgent medical evaluation.

Do I need an MRI before a targeted nerve root block?

An MRI is not automatically required before every targeted nerve root block. The need for imaging depends on your symptoms, examination, prior records, and treatment question. Bring any imaging reports you have, but don't delay an evaluation because a record is unavailable. We review the information and explain what is needed.

Can I get a same-day evaluation after a car accident?

Same-day evaluations are often available for auto accident injuries. Appointment availability still depends on the clinic schedule and your clinical needs. Our physicians assess pain, numbness, weakness, and other crash-related symptoms before discussing an injection. Stonecrest patients can request care through our Metro Atlanta clinics.

Key Points About Selective Nerve Root Block

  • A selective nerve root block focuses on one suspected spinal nerve root.
  • Radiating pain, tingling, and weakness help guide the assessment.
  • A facet injection addresses a different structure than a nerve root block.
  • We review risks and warning signs before proceeding.
  • Results vary, so follow-up findings shape the next step.

Scenarios

When Customers Call Us About Selective Nerve Root Block

1

Leg Pain After A Collision

Pain that travels from the lower back into the leg may involve an irritated nerve root. The path of the pain, numbness, and any weakness matter during assessment. Our team will review the crash-related symptoms and discuss whether a focused injection fits the plan. Schedule an evaluation so we can document the pattern clearly.

2

Neck Pain Into The Arm

Neck pain with tingling in the arm can affect daily tasks after a motor vehicle collision. A targeted nerve root block may be considered when the symptoms follow a consistent nerve path. Bring prior records and a list of medicines to your consultation, then let our physician explain the available options.

3

Concern About Injection Risks

Some patients feel uneasy about needles or possible side effects, especially after a painful crash. We discuss soreness, bleeding, infection, nerve irritation, medication reactions, and warning signs before treatment. A consultation gives you time to ask questions and decide whether this approach belongs in your care plan.

Our Other Services

Auto Accident Injury EvaluationAfter a collision, neck stiffness or back pain can worsen while insurance questions pile up. Our physicians examine whiplash, herniated discs and nerve symptoms, then create a treatment plan and medical record for your recovery.
Epidural Steroid InjectionsLeg pain from an irritated spinal nerve can make walking and sitting difficult. An epidural steroid injection places medicine near the affected nerve root, helping reduce inflammation from sciatica or a herniated disc.
Facet Joint InjectionsPain with standing, twisting or arching your back may come from irritated facet joints. We use a targeted facet joint injection to identify the pain source and reduce inflammation around the spinal joints.
Medial Branch BlocksBack or neck pain from facet joints can resist everyday movement and rest. A medial branch block tests the small nerves carrying those signals, helping identify candidates for longer-lasting radiofrequency ablation.
Occipital Nerve BlocksPain starting at the base of your skull can spread behind the eyes or across the scalp. An occipital nerve block delivers medication near the greater occipital nerve to calm nerve-related headaches.
Radiofrequency AblationPersistent facet pain can return after temporary injections stop helping. Radiofrequency ablation uses controlled heat on targeted medial branch nerves, reducing pain signals from arthritic joints in the neck or lower back.
