Why does pain keep traveling from my back into my leg after a crash?

Radiating pain can continue when an irritated spinal nerve remains involved after an auto accident. A pain management physician can assess the pattern, check strength and sensation, and review relevant records or imaging. A selective nerve root block may help identify the painful nerve and provide targeted relief when the findings fit. New weakness, loss of bladder control, or severe numbness needs urgent medical attention.

Selective Nerve Root Block Care in Chamblee, Georgia

A selective nerve root block is considered when crash-related pain travels from the spine into an arm, hand, hip, or leg. The pattern can point toward nerve irritation near the neck or lower back, but symptoms alone do not decide treatment.

Our physicians assess the injury history, pain pattern, movement, strength, and sensation. They also consider spinal narrowing, a herniated disc, or other findings tied to the collision. This page serves people deciding whether a focused nerve injection fits their symptoms, not people seeking general primary care or workers’ compensation care.

The main decision is whether the suspected nerve matches the symptoms and exam. When it does not, another service or further evaluation may fit better.

  • Record where the pain starts and where it travels.
  • Bring available accident, treatment, and imaging records.
  • Tell the physician about numbness, weakness, and changes in movement.
  • Ask how the proposed injection relates to the suspected nerve.
  • Discuss MedPay or an attorney lien if those options apply to your care.

Service Overview

A selective nerve root block is a targeted injection near a spinal nerve that helps assess and treat nerve-related pain.

  • Unlike a broader epidural injection, this approach focuses on one suspected nerve root and can support diagnostic testing when symptoms follow a clear path.
  • Premier Injury Specialists provides this care for eligible auto accident patients in Chamblee and across Metro Atlanta.

What This Targeted Nerve Injection Includes

Premier Injury Specialists provides comprehensive Selective Nerve Root Block in Chamblee. Here's what you get:

  • An injury evaluation connects your symptoms with the motor vehicle collision.
  • A focused exam checks movement, strength, sensation, and the pattern of radiating pain.
  • The physician discusses whether a targeted nerve root injection fits the findings.
  • The treatment plan explains the role of the injection and related care.
  • Thorough medical documentation records the injury findings and treatment decision.
  • The coordinated practice can discuss other interventional options when this approach is not the right fit.

How We Approach This Nerve Root Decision

Match the injection to the symptom path

Radiating pain that follows one nerve pattern can support this option. Our team compares the symptoms with the exam before discussing treatment.

Use physician-LED treatment planning

Board-certified pain management physicians guide the assessment and plan. The team considers the crash history, spine findings, and patient goals together.

Know when another service fits

A selective nerve root block may not suit pain with no clear nerve pattern or symptoms needing a different evaluation. We discuss the next clinical step when the findings do not match.

Process

How We Plan A Targeted Nerve Root Block

1

Review the collision and pain path

We record how the injury happened, where pain began, and whether symptoms travel into an arm or leg.

2

Complete the focused nerve exam

The physician checks movement, strength, sensation, and other findings that may connect symptoms to a spinal nerve.

3

Consider records and imaging

The physician reviews available medical records and imaging when those materials help clarify spinal narrowing, a disc issue, or another cause.

4

Discuss treatment suitability

The care plan explains the suspected nerve, the purpose of the injection, and whether another treatment fits better.

5

Document the medical decision

Our team records the injury findings, treatment discussion, and plan through one coordinated practice.

What Focused Nerve Treatment May Help You Decide

A targeted injection may help link a pain pattern to one suspected spinal nerve.

Focused assessment gives the physician a clearer basis for treatment planning.

The approach may support targeted pain relief when the clinical findings match.

Thorough records help document the injury, examination, and care plan.

A coordinated visit connects evaluation and interventional treatment through one practice.

Questions About Targeted Nerve Root Treatment

What is a selective nerve root block used for?

Nerve irritation is the main reason physicians use a selective nerve root block after an auto accident. The injection targets one suspected spinal nerve when pain travels along a related path. It may support diagnostic testing and targeted pain relief, but results vary. Premier Injury Specialists first reviews the injury history, exam findings, and available records.

How do I know whether this injection fits my symptoms?

A matching pain pattern and focused exam help determine whether this injection fits. The physician checks where symptoms travel, along with strength, sensation, and movement. Spinal narrowing or a herniated disc may affect the decision. Symptoms without a clear nerve pattern may call for another evaluation or treatment plan.

Which records should I bring to the consultation for Selective Nerve Root Block?

Accident records, treatment notes, medication details, and available imaging help the physician assess the injury. Bring documents from emergency care, primary treatment, or other medical visits. The team can then compare the reported pain path with the examination. Missing records do not replace the consultation, but available information can make the discussion more focused.

When should radiating pain receive urgent attention?

New or worsening weakness, loss of bladder control, or severe numbness needs urgent medical attention. These signs can point to a serious nerve or spinal problem. Routine pain after a crash still deserves an evaluation, especially when it travels into an arm or leg. Tell the care team about any change in strength or sensation.

Why might an epidural injection be discussed instead for Selective Nerve Root Block?

An epidural injection may fit when the pain pattern involves a broader area or the suspected nerve is not clear. A selective block focuses more closely on one nerve root. The physician compares the symptom path, examination, and available records before recommending an approach. Each treatment has a different purpose, so the plan should match the findings.

For Selective Nerve Root Block, what changes the cost of this treatment?

The recommended evaluation, treatment plan, records, and coverage arrangement can change the cost. Our team reviews the care needed and discusses available MedPay or attorney lien arrangements for eligible patients. Free consultations are available. The exact financial discussion should happen before treatment so the plan matches your accident claim and care needs.
