Service Overview

Spinal cord stimulation is a treatment that uses electrical signals to change how certain pain signals are processed.

  • It differs from an injection because it involves a trial approach and a suitability review for ongoing nerve-related pain.
  • Premier Injury Specialists provides evaluations for Clarkston patients through coordinated clinics serving Metro Atlanta.

What this treatment decision changes

A structured review can clarify whether stimulation is a reasonable next step.

Patients receive targeted care based on the pain pattern and injury findings.

A trial approach gives the care plan a defined suitability check before longer-term decisions.

Coordinated records support communication about the accident, symptoms, and treatment history.

Patients can discuss other interventional options when stimulation does not fit.

When this service is the right fit

A Clarkston driver with ongoing nerve pain after a motor vehicle collision may ask whether a stimulation trial fits. We review the accident-related symptoms, prior treatment, and daily limits before discussing that option.

What patients receive from this treatment review

A focused fit review

Customers receive a focused review of symptoms, prior care, and treatment goals before trial stimulation is discussed. The first step is an evaluation, not an automatic procedure.

Physician-LED treatment planning

Board-certified pain management physicians build personalized treatment plans for accident-related pain. The plan may include targeted injections or nerve procedures when they match the findings.

A clear treatment limit

Spinal cord stimulation is not the right job for every pain condition. We direct care toward another option when the symptoms or injury findings do not support a stimulation trial.

Process

How spinal cord stimulation is evaluated

1

Review the accident and symptoms

We discuss the collision, pain pattern, nerve symptoms, functional limits, and available medical records.

2

Assess prior treatment

Customers describe earlier injections, medication use, and other care so the physician can judge what helped and what did not.

3

Check trial suitability

The physician considers whether the injury findings and treatment goals support a trial stimulation plan.

4

Explain treatment choices

We explain the trial approach and discuss other targeted procedures when they better match the condition.

5

Set the follow-up plan

The care plan records the chosen next step and supports ongoing injury documentation.

Questions about spinal cord stimulation treatment

When reviewing site readiness, who may be considered for spinal cord stimulation on a standard service call?

Persistent pain with ongoing nerve-related symptoms may support consideration for spinal cord stimulation. Premier Injury Specialists reviews the injury, chronic neuropathy, failed treatments, and daily limits before discussing a trial. The treatment isn’t automatic, and another procedure may fit better when the pain pattern does not support stimulation.

What does the first evaluation check?

The first evaluation checks the accident history, pain pattern, nerve symptoms, prior treatment, and effect on daily activities. Customers should bring available medical records and a list of current medicines. Our physician uses those details to build a treatment plan and explain which options fit the injury.

Which prior treatments matter before a trial?

Prior injections, medication use, and other pain treatments matter because they show how symptoms responded to care. Patients should describe both helpful and unsuccessful treatment. This history helps our team decide whether trial stimulation deserves discussion or whether another targeted procedure better matches the findings.

How does a trial differ from an injection?

A trial evaluates whether electrical stimulation may help certain nerve-related pain, while an injection delivers medicine to a targeted area. Epidural steroid injections, facet joint injections, and nerve blocks address different pain sources. The physician compares the treatment purpose with the injury findings before recommending a next step.

When is another treatment a better fit?

Another treatment is a better fit when the pain pattern points to a focused injection, nerve block, radiofrequency ablation, or joint procedure. Our team matches the option to the injury findings and symptoms. Customers receive an explanation of the recommended care before treatment proceeds.

Why might accident documentation matter for care?

Accident documentation connects the reported symptoms with the motor vehicle collision and records the medical findings. Thorough records can include the evaluation, treatment plan, procedures, and follow-up care. Premier Injury Specialists provides coordinated documentation while treating eligible accident patients across Metro Atlanta.

Can I request an evaluation without an MRI for Spinal Cord Stimulation?

An MRI is not the only factor used to discuss treatment suitability. The physician reviews the examination, symptoms, medical records, and available imaging before making a plan. Patients in Clarkston can request an evaluation and learn what information is needed for their specific injury.
