Facet Joint Injections in Clarkston, Georgia for Crash-Related Pain

Facet joint injections focus on pain that may come from the small joints behind the spinal bones. They can fit patients with focused neck or back pain, stiffness, and pain that refers into nearby areas after a motor vehicle collision.

The key decision is whether the symptoms and examination point toward facet joints. Our physicians also consider disc injury, sciatica, radiculopathy, headaches, and soft tissue damage before choosing a treatment path.

This page focuses on the injection decision, not general primary care or urgent care. Patients can ask about related options such as medial branch blocks, radiofrequency ablation, or joint injections when the clinical findings support them.

  • A review of crash-related symptoms and injury history.
  • An assessment of whether facet joints fit the pain pattern.
  • Discussion of related treatments when facet pain is not the main concern.
  • Medical records that support ongoing injury care.

Process

How We Plan and Provide Facet Joint Injections

1

Review the crash-related symptoms

We discuss pain location, stiffness, movement limits, referred pain, and the injury history.

2

Check the likely pain source

The examination looks for findings that support facet joint pain and considers disc or nerve-related causes.

3

Explain the treatment choice

The physician explains whether a facet joint injection, medial branch block, or another option fits the findings.

4

Complete the targeted treatment

If the plan includes an injection, we provide targeted treatment near the selected facet joint area.

5

Record follow-up needs

We document the visit and explain the next step based on your symptoms and treatment response.

How We Approach Facet Joint Injection Decisions

Match symptoms to the joint source

The examination looks at pain location, movement, stiffness, and referred symptoms before treatment is discussed. Facet joint injections are the wrong fit when the findings point to another source, such as a herniated disc or nerve irritation.

Use physician-LED treatment planning

Board-certified physicians in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine guide the plan. A certified physician assistant also supports coordinated patient care.

Keep injury records connected

Thorough medical documentation records symptoms, findings, treatment, and follow-up needs. This matters for patients managing care after a motor vehicle collision.

A situation this service fits

A hypothetical Clarkston patient with neck stiffness after a collision may ask whether the pain comes from facet joints or a disc. We assess the symptom pattern and examination findings before discussing an injection or another treatment.

The staff were super friendly and efficient with my back injections. They made me feel safe and I made a great connection with the receptionist. I was actually surprised by the low level of pain. I’ve had back injections before that were very painful, but these injections felt like a little pinch. Would definitely Recommend this facility.

Questions About Facet Joint Injections and Crash Injuries

What symptoms may indicate facet joint pain?

Extension pain may indicate facet joint pain when spinal movement brings on focused neck or back discomfort. Back stiffness and referred pain can support that concern, but they do not prove the source. Our physicians compare the symptom pattern with the examination and injury history. This helps separate facet pain from disc problems, nerve irritation, or soft tissue injury.

How does a medial branch block differ from a facet joint injection for Facet Joint Injections?

A medial branch block targets small nerves that carry pain signals from facet joints, while an injection targets the joint area. Both procedures relate to facet pain but answer different clinical questions. The physician chooses between them based on your symptoms and examination. Radiofrequency ablation may be discussed as another option in the treatment plan.

Which part of my injury changes the treatment cost?

The treatment plan, medical evaluation, and coverage arrangement are the main cost factors. A single joint concern may require a different plan than pain involving several areas or another spinal source. We explain the recommended care during a consultation. Eligible patients can also ask about MedPay or attorney liens.

When should I seek an evaluation after a crash for Facet Joint Injections?

An evaluation is appropriate when neck or back pain continues, limits movement, or develops with stiffness or referred symptoms. New weakness, severe numbness, or loss of bladder or bowel control needs urgent medical attention. Our practice evaluates auto accident injuries and documents findings for coordinated care. Same-day evaluations are often available.

Why might an injection be the wrong treatment for my pain?

An injection may be the wrong fit when the examination points to a disc, nerve, or soft tissue source. Facet joint injections address pain linked to facet joints, not every type of spinal pain. Our physicians review the full injury pattern before recommending treatment. They may discuss epidural injections, nerve blocks, or another option when appropriate.

For Facet Joint Injections, what should I bring to the first appointment?

Accident details, medical records, imaging reports, medication information, and insurance or attorney details can help the first visit. These records give the physician more context about the injury and prior care. Bring any document you already have, but do not delay urgent medical attention while gathering paperwork. Our staff can explain the next scheduling step.
